Thank you for helping name the
California sea lion pups!
In just four short days, thousands of people contributed their name ideas to help the Aquarium name two female sea lion pups. These pups are still behind the scenes for routine quarantine and training. They won’t be on exhibit until later this summer, but thanks to you they have been named.

Meet Sierra!
This name was submitted by Jenna B. Congratulations!

Meet Zoe!
This name was submitted by Jim H. Congratulations!
Thanks to everyone who participated! In addition to these winners, there were many other people who submitted these same names. Jim and Jenna were chosen because they submitted the name first and included the best explanation.
Keep in touch!
The sea lions will be entering the New Balance Foundation Marine Mammal Center later this summer. Be among the first to know when you can come see Zoe and Sierra by registering for the Aquarium’s newsletter Seabits. Also, be sure to connect with the Aquarium on Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr to keep up with the latest Aquarium news.
Getting to know you
The sea lions may be behind the scenes, but you can see exclusive photos and video of the pups on the Marine Mammal Trainers Blog. In this post, Justin shares some training video.
The sea lion pups are not on exhibit yet. Visitors will be able to see them later this summer when they enter the New Balance Foundation Marine Mammal Center.
We are making a difference
The Aquarium’s trainers participate in marine mammal conservation efforts as often as possible. Read expedition posts from a trainers' experience counting fur seal pups in the Pribilof Islands..
How to live blue™
One of the most significant threats marine mammals is entanglement in trash and debris that finds its way from streets and landfills to our oceans. Reduce your use of plastics by using reusable containers.
