The Aquarium breeds thousands of moon jellies every year. Many will be seen by visitors in the Amazing Jellies exhibit, but moon jellies are also a popular food for other animals.

Kriesel Kriesel2

Jellies must be displayed in special kriesel tanks. The aquariums circulate water gently in order to ensure that the delicate jellies are not injured by the filters or other equipment.

Many of the Aquarium’s jellies eat brine shrimp. Since one gallon of seawater may contain more than 40,000 brine shrimp, each of these 5-gallon containers could hold more than 200,000 shrimp.
