Hundreds of people gathered at Dowse's Beach in Osterville, Cape Cod on August 20, 2007 to watch eleven rescued sea turtles—a loggerhead, a green sea turtle and nine Kemp's ridleys—be returned to the ocean.

The loggerhead was released first, separately from the others (first clip). Then the crowd got to "meet" the others (second clip), and everyone got to watch as the turtles raced for the ocean (third clip).

Interestingly, the green sea turtle, which you'll see being one of the most rambunctious during the meet 'n' greet, turned out to be a bit of a laggard in the race for the water. In the third clip you'll see him taking his time getting across the sand, stopping to have a look around, and eventually getting some help from a member of one of the rescue and rehabilitation teams.

The rehabilitation teams included the New England Aquarium, the National Marien Life Center, the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Woods Hole Science Aquarium.
