The New England Aquarium’s Harbor Discovery Summer Camp has campers trading in their canoe paddles for GPS units. By integrating geospatial technology into its Sea Lab summer camp experience, the Aquarium is encouraging campers to explore GIS and GPS technology while learning about marine science in the field.

Sea Lab—a week-long Harbor Discoveries Summer Camp program—focuses on the scientific exploration of the marine world. Campers experience life as marine biologists by using the tools of the trade, including GIS and GPS technology. Campers use GPS units in the field and then use GIS to map out their results in the lab.
