Under Way to the Aucklands
![]() Researchers aboard Evohe |
We awake (Late! Sunrise is about 8 a.m.) to another clear and cold day with moderate seas. Once caffeinated and fed, the crew makes it way on deck to look around. No land, no boats, many birds. Royal, Wandering, and Chatham Island albatrosses, and Cape and Mottled petrels are all seen before10 a.m. Our intent is to stand a few watches during daylight hours, although we do not expect any marine mammals out in the deeper waters, there may be some interesting bird sightings. Our expected time of arrival in the Aucklands is about 1 p.m. tomorrow. More to follow!
