I'm glad I subscribed to this feed. That's an amazing video. How many whales are in one place? The sound of them breathing is incredible!

The dogs used to help locate whale feces aren't in use this season due to lack of funding.

They have been used in previous seasons, and hopefully they will be back in future seasons.

Authors Answers:

In response to Cam:
The number of whales in one habitat can very depending on the time of the season. On this day we saw 36 right whales.

In response to anonymous:
We keep track of each whale in the surface active group by assigning each one a letter (A,B,C...etc). What you are hearing are the researchers yelling out the letter of each whale at the surface so the photographers know which one they are photographing.
