The New England Aquarium is committed to providing interactive and informative programming for students in homeschool programs. We offer a variety of learning opportunities, both at Central Wharf in Boston and in the field.
Homeschool Ocean Series classes (ages 5 – 13)
Homeschool Ocean Series classes are designed to be both interactive and informative. Each week classes will include a mix of activities, lecture, project work and exploring the Main Building of the Aquarium. Extension activities will be given between classes to deepen the lessons taught in class. Each class will be tailored to the age range and appropriately challenging. All series will have 6 sessions and are offered on an every other week schedule. Please note that the only date where we can offer concurrent sessions for multiple age groups is Fridays. Classes will be grouped by the following ages: 5 – 7 years, 8 – 10 years, and 11 – 13 years.
If you have a student 14 years old or older, please visit this website to see the programs that we offer for teenagers.
$90 per student for the series. This price includes at home extension activities that will help to deepen the learning experience, and will be appropriate for each age group.
Aquarium admission is not included in the class and not necessary during the class. Aquarium membership is encouraged so families can visit the Aquarium outside of class hours. There is no price discount for members or for enrolling multiple students, a $2 service fee will be added to non-member reservations.
Classes are held in the Aquarium’s Ocean Center, which is across the plaza from the Main Aquarium Building.
A minimum of 10 children participants will be required to run a series; please tell your friends to sign up!
