The New England Aquarium's Marketing and Communications internship is an opportunity to combine skills in marketing, journalism or public relations with an interest in learning about marine science in a museum setting.

Qualifications:  The Marketing and Communications Department seeks a motivated and creative intern for the summer of 2009. Ideal candidates should be interested in the fields of marketing, journalism or public relations. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with the media, the public and Aquarium personnel are required.

Responsibilities:  Write short pieces for internal and external Aquarium publications and marketing materials. Maintain the media and job books for the current year’s advertising and collateral. Assist with on- and off-site promotional events with radio stations and media partners. Draft press releases and media advisories and helping to pitch them to the media. Research and interview for different stories. Research and sort photographs for the Aquarium photo database. Brainstorm and storyboard for upcoming Aquarium programs. Respond to department correspondence.
