July 2, 2009 Afternoon Trip

Wow it's already July! We canceled our morning trip today, due to some severe thunderstorms and the heavy fog. As we headed out on our afternoon trip we still had some fog but were able to find 3 humpbacks! We came across a mother and calf with an escort. I believe the mother was Lavalier. We were able to watch them for a while but then the fog rolled in pretty heavy and we lost them. As we moved around the area slowly we were able to pick the escort back up and then a few others! By the end of our trip we had about 4-6 feeding humpbacks and 2 lunge feeding fin whales! Just goes to show that even in the fog we still have hope and can still find the whales sometimes! One of the feeding humpbacks was a whale named Cajun, a whale we have seen several times this year.
