Welcome to our second Harborside Chat with New England Aquarium President and CEO Vikki Spruill.

Each month, Vikki sits down for a casual conversation with a member of our team to learn about their work and how that work reinforces our mission to protect the blue planet.

This month, she joined Mark Smith, the Aquarium’s Vice President of Animal Care, to chat about the importance of aquariums, how we care for the animals here at the New England Aquarium, and what we’re doing to protect marine animals beyond our walls.

More about the animals at the New England Aquarium

From Giant Pacific octopus to the delicate leafy seadragon to the lumbering green sea turtle and spry northern fur seals—there are thousands of aquatic animals to visit at the Aquarium. For animals like the African penguin, which are in danger of extinction in the wild, aquariums help protect the population with species survival plans.
