Sea Squirts Advanced classes added for children in pre-kindergarten and K1 (ages 4 to 5 years), while AquaSTEAM provides after-school, drop-off classes for children in kindergarten through Grade 2.

Starting this September, there are two new offerings designed especially for an older group of future ocean protectors.

Sea Squirts Advanced

Sea Squirts Advanced follows the same curriculum (format and topics) as Sea Squirts with instruction and information scaled up for older children. These classes are a great fit for pre-K and K1 students to deepen their knowledge of the oceans and the Aquarium while having fun with their caregiver and other children their age.

Join us in Sea Squirts Advanced on Sundays at 2:30 p.m. or Tuesdays at 3 p.m.

AquaSTEAM

AquaSTEAM provides hands-on, student-driven learning in the unique Aquarium setting. This new pilot, after-school series will follow a project-based learning model. Students will identify a problem or question to solve and use tools and information provided to explore the issue, think through options, and present possible solutions. Along the way, we will use the Aquarium’s exhibits to strategically enhance learning and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) skills. The six-week session will culminate in a final student-driven project.

This drop-off program will meet Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Aquarium’s Ocean Center. Children must be in kindergarten, Grade 1, or Grade 2 to participate in this class.

And, of course, we still offer our Sea Squirts Preview and Sea Squirts classes to engage your little ocean stewards as they grow.

Sea Squirts Preview

Specially designed for very young children (ages 12 to 24 months), the Sea Squirts Preview program is a great introduction to our Sea Squirts classes. Over the course of four weeks, children will become more comfortable in a classroom setting and parents will gain confidence in exploring the Aquarium with your children outside of class time. Classes take place Mondays at 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 2:30 p.m.

Sea Squirts

In Sea Squirts classes, parents can learn about the blue planet alongside their young children (ages 2 to 4 years) as we focus on developing motor, language, and socialization skills while fine-tuning early science skills. Regular classes are an hour long and include free play, art projects, games, and circle time. Upcoming series include Ocean Motion, Ocean Adventurers, and Wicked Local Critters. Classes meet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
