This afternoon aboard the Sanctuary we braved the waves and came to find a number of humpback whales in the most recent whale hotspot. Not surprisingly there were about six humpbacks spread throughout the area surfing the seas. At the beginning of our trip we found whales were visible at three different points on either side and behind the boat, which is great and allowed everyone the chance to watch and their ‘own’ whales. With whales all around us we spent quality time with Valley and her calf, watching as the calf bobbed at the surface while mom likely foraged nearby. When she returned into view, we could watched as the calf sidled up alongside and then began to nurse.
On our ride home we were able to get a sneak peek at a number of tall ships at anchorage outside the harbor. The fog made for an eerie and beautiful backdrop for the stunning ships and the impressive rigging on each. Long Wharf has been abuzz with activity in preparation for this exciting weekend!
