Curious about a career working with marine mammals? Interested in helping care for the marine mammals behind the scenes?

Our volunteer and internship program is a great opportunity for almost anyone!

Our team of volunteers and interns play an integral role in the care we provide for our northern fur seals, Atlantic harbor seals, and California sea lions. From preparing animals’ diets, conducting enrichment sessions with our animals, making toys and cleaning exhibit spaces to interacting with guests and giving presentations, volunteers are constantly working hard to provide the best life possible for our animals.

Looking to learn more about animal training and husbandry to work toward a career in the field? Interns work directly with our animal trainers to support the care of the seals and sea lions and partake in a department-developed program to learn about the fundamentals of animal training. As an intern, you’ll gain invaluable experience in the marine mammal field.

Hear from some of our current volunteers and interns on why they joined our marine mammal team and what they love about being here.
