Be a Part of National Family Volunteer Day

Saturday, November 17

The Saturday before Thanksgiving is National Family Volunteer Day. This day of service is designed for families to give back and give thanks to their local communities. Join the Aquarium at one of three events held that day, November 17.

At the Aquarium from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Help the Boston Water and Sewer Commission map, label, and protect local storm drains. First-time volunteers will receive an introduction to the water systems, then everyone will head out into the city with maps to clean debris from and label local storm drains. This event is for ages 10 and older

At Revere Beach from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Help conduct one last round of cleaning and marine debris data collection for the Office of Coastal Management. This time of year tends to bring strange items (both natural and man-made) to the shore. Help log it all. This event is for all ages.

At Blue Hills Reservation from 9 a.m to noon: The Aquarium’s crew will traverse its adopted trails in the Blue Hills Reservation. Volunteers will help clean debris, cut back growth, and walk trails to identify any additional needs. This event is for ages 18 and older.
