Come celebrate our oceans with us! We are planning lots of fun activities to help you learn about our blue planet. We’re also inviting lots of like-minded groups to help share the love for our oceans. 12:10 p.m. – Sustainable Seafood Demonstration, with Peter McCarthy, Chef and Owner of EVOO restaurant, Cambridge, MA

1:10 p.m. – Get to Know Red’s Best: Innovating Boston’s Local Seafood Supply Chain, with Jared Auerbach, Founder of Red’s Best

1:40 p.m. – Climate Change Conversations Made Easy, with Hannah Pickard, Manager, National Network of Ocean and Climate Change Interpretation

2:20 p.m. – Comic Books and Coral Reefs: A Cartoonist’s Guide to Ocean Conservation, with Maris Wicks, science writer and illustrator

2:40 p.m. – Ocean Stewardship Award Ceremony

Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life Presentations

Throughout the event there will be presentations by scientists and researchers from the Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life, including tables featuring:

  • Sharks, including tagging and monitoring them and the climate change work being done at our Quincy location
  • Marine Conservation Action Fund, with games made of recycled material
  • Fur seal hormone activity, based on current research
  • Lobsters, with actual animals in the tent
  • Aerial whale surveillance, featuring a game based on what our scientists see and record during a surveillance flight
