The New England Aquarium is committed to ensuring that financial factors are not a barrier to any youth’s participation in our programming, which is aimed at building inspired and competent young people equipped to most effectively engage in our community as ocean health-minded citizens and professionals. Thanks to sponsors such as New Balance Foundation, Polar Beverages, and the Summer Fund, we are happy to provide the opportunity for financial assistance for households with annual incomes below $80,000.
Priority deadline to apply is March 1.
Any camper whose household can demonstrate an annual adjusted gross income below $80,000 is eligible to apply for a scholarship! Due to limited space, each applicant will not be awarded multiple sessions.
Special opportunity: If two eligible scholarship applicants whose family has not previously participated in Harbor Discoveries apply for a scholarship by the deadline and name you as their referral source, you will be eligible for a second week of camp at the scholarship rate, depending on available space.
We reserve a quarter of the space in our programs for scholarship recipients. For summer programming, you will apply for the scholarship instead of registering for specific programming.
- Step 1: Apply either online or by downloading, printing, and emailing/sending in the applications (see green buttons above). Along with the application form, you will need to provide proof of income and a small project that each camper applicant must submit to showcase his/her interest in participation (see application for details).
- Step 2: Following the application deadline, we will contact all applicants by March 15 to inform them if and which program they were awarded, at which time payment instructions will be shared for the associated copayment. Do not send payment unless we contact you to confirm scholarship award! If awarded a scholarship, we will automatically register you for the program. Do not register for Harbor Discoveries as a full-paying participant.
- Step 3: Submit payment and required paperwork by May 24
- Step 4: Join us, learn, and grow!
The scholarships significantly reduce the tuition for each program. If awarded a scholarship, your copayment will depend on your annual household income, and the program for which you are applying.
$40K – $80K
In addition to an approximate 90 percent tuition reduction, scholarship recipients have the option to drop their youth off early (8:00 a.m.) at no additional charge.
As it is for all participants, meals and snacks will be provided at no additional charge.
