About
Edward Kim is an Associate Research Scientist in the Ecology, Mapping, and Assessment of Marine Populations (EcoMAP) department at the Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life. Prior to arriving at the aquarium in 2022, he completed his master’s degree on gray snapper growth and reproductive life history at the University of South Alabama and the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, where he also studied various inshore and offshore fisheries and gained extensive experience in ROV video analysis of artificial reefs. Edward currently leads an acoustic telemetry monitoring project focused on false albacore post-release survival and movements. He is further involved in tagging efforts of highly migratory species (i.e., sharks, tunas, and marlin), black sea bass, and tautog that inhabit the wind energy areas located in offshore southern New England.
