Ingrid Hyrycena is a marine biologist with over eight years of experience in cartilaginous fishes (sharks, rays, and chimaeras) research, fisheries, science communication, environmental education, and marine conservation. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Vale do Itajaí, a Master of Science in Marine and Coastal Biodiversity and Ecology from the Federal University of São Paulo, and is currently pursuing a Specialization in Marine Sciences Applied to Teaching at the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina. Ingrid is the Founder & CEO of Projeto Tubarão, which offers consulting services and, on its social media, uses accessible language to share marine science content. She is also a co-author of four peer-reviewed papers and one book chapter. She is the Field Research Lead for the ICONIC Oceans initiative in Brazil, led by Minorities in Shark Sciences (MISS), and also serves as MISS’s Regional Coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean on the Advisory Board. She has also worked as a consultant advising scientific organizations on Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility.
