About

Dr. Kathryn Tuxbury is a senior veterinarian in the Animal Health Department. She provides all aspects of veterinary medical care to the animals at both the Aquarium and the Animal Care Center in Quincy, including preventive medicine, emergency medicine, surgery, anesthesia, and nutrition reviews. Dr. Tuxbury also provides care to the injured cold-stunned sea turtles under rehabilitation at the Quincy Animal Care Center Rescue and Rehabilitation program.

In addition to providing medical care to all animals housed at the Aquarium, Dr. Tuxbury is involved in various aquatic animal medicine research projects. She offers veterinary leadership for the Larval Fishes program that promotes sustainable fish collection and oversees the veterinary student externship program in which third- and fourth-year veterinary students spend several weeks with the Animal Health Department. She is also a lecturer at Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine and the Cornell University AQUAVET® program.
