About

Matt Thompson is the aquaculture programs manager for the Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life at the New England Aquarium. He has been focused on advancing environmentally responsible aquaculture globally since joining the Aquarium in 2007. His role is twofold; primarily, he is responsible for researching and developing reports and recommendations related to aquaculture for corporate partners, but he also undertakes special projects designed to expedite the development and uptake of more sustainable aquaculture practices. These include aquaculture certification and domestic aquaculture policy engagement, mentoring new bluetech companies, and addressing harmful wildlife interactions with marine aquaculture gear.
