About
Michelle Cho has eighteen years of experience researching the health and environmental impacts of commercial global fisheries and partnering with the seafood industry. As part of the New England Aquarium’s BalanceBlue Lab, Michelle’s objective is to advance the uptake of technological and other innovative techniques to help mitigate and reduce impacts of human activities on the ocean. She joined the New England Aquarium in 2006, after working as a fisheries observer based in New Bedford, MA, and on research trawl surveys for the states of Connecticut and Rhode Island. By connecting scientific research to industry and coastal communities in search of solutions, Michelle aims to facilitate improved industry practices for balanced, healthy ecosystems worldwide.
