About
Lena Weiss is a Program Officer for the BalanceBlue Lab, providing scientific and technical expertise on wild-capture fisheries, as well as other topics, to a diverse range of audiences, including the seafood industry, early-stage entrepreneurs, investors, and decision makers. She also serves as the lab’s program manager for BlueSwell, an early-stage incubator for blue technology startups looking to convert ocean-focused concepts into profitable and environmentally responsible businesses.
Prior to joining the Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life, Lena worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a marine ecologist and scientific diver, focusing on large-scale infrastructure projects and ecosystem health. She is interested in facilitating the integration of scientific research into decision-making processes, at both the policy level and at smaller scales.
