About
Diana brings more than 20 years of zoological experience working with a diverse range of birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians, though her greatest passion has always been penguins. She joined the New England Aquarium Pinniped and Penguin team in 2024, bringing extensive expertise in animal husbandry, operant conditioning, medical care, and penguin breeding, with a strong commitment to advancing animal welfare standards and staff development. She also contributes to the broader zoological community through her leadership role on the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Penguin TAG Steering Committee.
Prior to joining the Aquarium, Diana served in leadership roles at the Mississippi Aquarium, where she helped lead the institution’s opening, animal acquisitions, habitat design, and program development. Her career also includes experience at several other institutions including SeaWorld San Diego and Central Park Zoo, with a focus on penguin and seabird management, breeding programs, and advanced medical care. Diana is dedicated to evidence-based animal care, conservation, and public engagement.
