About
Chris earned a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and began his career as a fisheries biologist working in the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska. In 2005, he relocated to Boston and started volunteering with the penguin colony team. Just four months later, he transitioned into a temporary aquarist diver role on the Giant Ocean Tank (GOT) team, and within a year, he was hired full-time—launching a long and dedicated career in marine animal care and exhibit management.
After 14 years as a senior aquarist, Chris was promoted to GOT Manager, bringing with him the experience of more than 7,000 dives in the exhibit. A certified PADI Divemaster, he has led liveaboard collecting expeditions in the Bahamas and remains actively involved in the New England Aquarium’s field diving program. He also contributes to institutional initiatives as a member of the Sustainability Committee and practices environmental stewardship in his daily life, including commuting by bicycle.
