About
Nadine Lysiak joined the Wildlife and Ocean Health Program as a Research Scientist in 2023. Dr. Lysiak’s research examines large whale ecophysiology; investigating feeding and migration patterns, reproduction, and stress physiology through chemical analysis of baleen plates – unique filter feeding structures found in the mouth of mysticete whales. This work helps inform our understanding of animal health and response to stressors, as well as conservation and management plans for threatened species. She has 20 years experience in North Atlantic right whale and bowhead whale field and laboratory studies, as well as undergraduate marine science education.
