A Lifetime of Water Advocacy: A Conversation with Sarah Kauss, Founder of S’well

New England Aquarium presents free event: Tuesday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m.

WHAT: The New England Aquarium’s Lowell Lecture Series presents entrepreneur Sarah Kauss, founder of S’well, a reusable water bottle and insulated products company, who will discuss her journey as an advocate, innovator, and ocean steward. As a lifelong conservationist, Kauss launched a new product category and created a well-loved brand with S’well. In the process, she helped make the sustainability movement more mainstream and replaced more than four billion single-use plastic bottles.

In her talk, the environmental champion will share how she became a purposeful entrepreneur and what elements she finds critical to creating an enduring impact.

WHEN: Tuesday, April 29 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with a cash bar available.

WHERE: In person at the New England Aquarium’s Simons Theatre, 1 Central Wharf, Boston. The lecture will also be livestreamed via Zoom.

HOW: Register here for in-person and virtual attendance to the lecture event. Advance registration is required. The Lowell Lecture Series at the New England Aquarium is presented free to the public through the generosity of the Lowell Institute.

WHO: Sarah Kauss is a conservationist, advisor, investor, and the founder of S’well. She is a consumer products leader with a track record in launching companies, building multimillion-dollar brands, and partnering with multinational corporations to meet sustainability goals. Sarah held the position of CEO of S’well for ten years: bootstrapping it with $30,000 of her own savings and building it into a brand that reached over $100 million in annual revenue. Kauss is a Fortune “40 Under 40” honoree and is the recipient of the Harvard Business School Club of New York’s Entrepreneurship Award. Under her leadership, S’well was named the fastest-growing women-led company by the Women Presidents’ Organization, was honored with the Brand Design award by Inc. magazine, and secured placement in the top 100 on the Inc. 5000 List of fastest-growing privately held companies. Kauss is a Henry Crown Fellow and was a 2020 Braddock Scholar at the Aspen Global Leadership Network at the Aspen Institute. She earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
